Message for U.S. Citizens -- Inauguration Events

The ceremony for the Presidential inauguration will take place this Thursday, December 1st, from morning until noon at the Philharmonic Hall downtown. It will be followed in the afternoon by another gathering the Ala-Archa State Residence located at the south end of Prospect Mira. Foreign dignitaries attending these events will start arriving in Bishkek on November 30 and leave between December 1st and 2nd. As a result, the following traffic conditions are expected:
- Vehicular traffic on the road from Manas Airport to downtown Bishkek will be intermittently restricted between November 30 and December 2nd.
- Vehicular access will be restricted in the area around the Philharmonic Hall on December 1st.
- Traffic will increase significantly downtown and along Manas Street/Prospect Mira on December 1st.
We do not expect any unrest or demonstrations during the inauguration events, but large gatherings are likely. As always, the Embassy advises U.S. citizens to stay away from large crowds.
Please be aware that anyone planning to visit the United States Embassy on December 1st should expect delays and plan accordingly, as the Embassy is located on Prospect Mira on the way to the State Residence.
