Warden message- November 7, 2006
This message updates the Embassy’s Warden Message of October 30, 2006. An increased number of anti-government protestors have gathered in Ala-too Square and in front of the White House over the past two days. Today pro-government demonstrators began a demonstration in front of the Parliament building, and the Embassy received reports of altercations between the two groups. There is the possibility that Kyrgyz government authorities will impose a curfew after dark tonight.
The Embassy reminds American Citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. American Citizens are therefore urged to avoid areas where demonstrations may occur if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of one. American citizens are further urged to obey any potential curfew announced by the authorities.
U.S. citizens are urged to register and update their contact information through the State Department's travel registration website, https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/.
