Today, March 1, 2006 at approximately 11:00 a.m., a fatal shooting occurred near the Dordoi Plaza Shopping Center in Bishkek. Local police are currently investigating the crime. The U.S. Embassy in Bishkek is advising American Citizens in the Kyrgyz Republic to avoid the immediate area surrounding Dordoi Plaza while police conduct a crime scene investigation. The shooting at Dordoi Plaza is a reminder that American Citizens must be aware of their surroundings at all times.
