Application Instructions
About your interview appointment:
Interviews are scheduled in groups. Each group of approximately 10 applicants is assigned to a specific time (8:30, 9:30, etc.). At your assigned time, the guards will begin processing you through security to allow you into the consular section of the Embassy. When you enter the consular section, you will submit your documents and pay the MRV fee at the cashier’s window. Effective January 1, 2008, $131 non-refundable MRV fee to be paid in either Kyrgyz som or exact US dollars.
During registration, the Embassy employees will ensure that you have the following information with you:
- A passport of the 2004 or 2006 design valid for at least 6 months after your return to the Kyrgyz Republic.
- A completed Electronic Visa Application Form DS-156 which is available on the NIV Appointment System page – all three pages, including page 3 with the barcode number. Please consult with DS-156 instructions.
- The photograph (5cm x 5 cm) must not be older than 6 months, and must show the applicant’s entire face, always from the front and on a white background.
- The application must be complete and signed by the applicant and by anyone who helped to fill in the application form.
- Men aged 16-45 inclusive, must fill in the DS 157 form – Supplementary application for a non-immigrant visa. This applies for all types of visas.
- Students (visas type F, M and J) additionally need to fill in the DS 158 form “Contact Information for visa Applicant” and also put forward the SEVIS FEE (without a proof that you have paid the SEVIS fee, you cannot be interviewed and will have to reschedule your interview!).
- Effective January 1, 2008, $131 non-refundable MRV fee to be paid in either Kyrgyz som or exact US dollars.
- Confirmation of employment or study.
- If the applicant is a private entrepreneur or is self-employed then the applicant must be prepared to show the business license, a business register statement, tax records, or other financial documents.
Documents that can support your application for the specific type of visa:
Business trip, business meeting, conference, exhibit, networking, installation of equipment, representing a company, court trial or training course: Invitations for training or business meetings from the organizing party including specifics on the meeting content, registration for a conference (training course, meeting, etc.)
Holidays, travel, recreation, visiting friends or relatives:
If you are going to visit friends or relatives, you may present a written invitation from the person you are going to visit in the USA. The invitation should clarify your relationship with this person and provide information on his/her legal status in the USA (copy of his/her American passport or visa) as well as provide a rough schedule for your visit (including addresses, hotels, etc.).
If there is a case of death or illness, please bring a report from the hospital and your case will be given priority.
