Information for Travelers

General Information

While in the Kyrgyz Republic, you are subject to Kyrgyz laws, including its visa regime. All travelers to Kyrgyz Republic need visas. The telephone and address list of Kyrgyz Embassies worldwide is available in the Consular Section Bishkek or from the List of Overseas Diplomatic Missions of Kyrgyz Republic of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

American citizen can also obtain Kyrgyz visas at the airport upon arrival. This visa will be single entry one-month validity non-extendable one and cost U.S. $60.

All U.S. citizens who are planning to stay in Kyrgyzstan for more than one week are strongly encouraged to register with the Consular Section.

Registration allows the Embassy to perform a variety of services more quickly and efficiently, such as replacing your passport if it is lost or stolen, contacting you in case the Embassy or your relatives needs to pass an emergency message, and releasing information about you or your whereabouts to family or friends you wish to designate in a Privacy Act waiver.

In order to register, simply bring your passport or copy of your passport and complete the registration form available in the Consular Waiting Room or from the Embassy web site. There is no charge. You can also register online at Registration Home Page of the U.S. Department of State.

Third-Country Visas         

The following foreign countries have established Embassies or Consulates in Bishkek: Germany, Turkey, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, France, China, Iran, India, Japan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. The telephone numbers and addresses these Embassies are available at Consular Section of the American Embassy. You can also check for foreign entry requirements at the Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs.
