Fulbright Program
The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 under legislation introduced by Senator J. William Fulbright. This is a two-way exchange program for senior scholars, researchers and professionals from countries worldwide who have doctoral degrees.
Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program awards grants to U.S. scholars and professionals to lecture and conduct research at institutions at 125 countries in wide variety of academic disciplines for one semester or academic year. The Public Affairs Section hosts two or three American professors to teach and consult at Kyrgyz educational institutions for one or two semesters each year.
Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program awards grants to foreign scholars to conduct post-doctoral research at U.S. institutions for one academic year or term.
Grants are awarded in the following fields: political science, law, business, economics, education, pubic administration, journalism and American studies. Both U.S. and Kyrgyz finalists are selected on the basis of academic and professional qualifications and potential, and on the ability and willingness to share ideas and experiences with their counterparts.
