| Meeting with teachers |
Senior Fellow Carol Marsh traveled with Larisa Desyatkova from the US Embassy, took a ten day trip to the southern part of Kyrgyzstan, covering 10 towns including major towns like Osh and Jalalabat and small villages like Myrzake and Suzak. (more)

On January 25, 2006 Senior English Language Fellow - Carol Marsh conducted two workshops for 20 primary and secondary English teachers attending their compulsory “Re-qualification Course” in the training center of Academy of Education under Ministry of Education of Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek. January 10- February 3, 2006- Inter-session Workshops
Senior English Language Fellow Carol Marsh carried out a series of trainings and workshops for English Teachers from various high schools and universities. More than 116 teachers attended spent some time at the Arabaev University, where the training sessions were held.
Trainings and workshops covered very important issues of teaching methods like working in groups, as well as explaining some of the complexities in English language. At the end of the sessions there was a lively discussions of testing methods, which were found as largely ineffective in assessment of knowledge. Teachers were glad to attend workshops on testing and assessment of English language of undergraduate as well as graduate students.
50 teachers, who attended all trainings and workshops, were given certificates for completing them successfully.
