"Doing Business with the USA" Seminars

The U.S. Embassy organized two "Doing Business with the USA" seminars for Kyrgyz business people in Bishkek and Osh on March 26 and 27, 2009.  The seminars  provided insights to Kyrgyz companies on how to find U.S. partners, how to prepare their company to work with U.S. companies, and what U.S. Government resources and programs are available to help them succed in their business partnership with U.S. companies.

Over 130 representatives from local companies attended the seminar in bishkek and over 40 businesspeople attended in Osh. Representatives from the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the USAID project on Trade Liberalization gave presentations, shared their thoughts, and answered questions raised by the participants.

"Since my arrival to the Kyrgyz Republic last August, I have noticed an intense desire among local businesspeople to develop business ties with U.S. companies," U.S. Ambassador Tatiana Gfoeller noted, "and I hope that local businesspeople will take advantage of the Bishkek and Osh seminars to gain insights into how to build business relations with U.S. companies."  According to U.S. data, U.S. trade with the rest of the world grew by $280 billion from 2007 to 2008.  "Even with current global financial and economic difficulties," Ambassador Gfoeller added, "there are opportunities for Kyrgyz companies to expand their business and trade relations with potential U.S. partners.  These seminars will identify methods for Kyrgyz businesspeople to develop these trade relationships."

For companies and individuals unable to attend the seminar, the U.S. Embassy is making available some of the presentations as well as photos of the event.   Please contact the Embassy's commercial section at BishkekCommerce@state.gov or +996 312 551 241 ext. 4403 for more information about commercial opportunities with the United States.
