Call for proposals- The Democracy Commission of the U.S. Embassy
The Democracy Commission of the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic announces a request for grant proposals among Kyrgyz NGOs for projects aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and development of civil society.
Competition project themes:
• Civil Society Development
• Free Flow of Information, including Support for Independent Media: promoting alternative sources of information
• Anti-Corruption and Transparency in Government: education and awareness campaigns
• Association Building: Initiatives that will promote creation and development of associations.
• Rule of Law and Legal Reforms: Legal support services, public education and advocacy, judicial support, lobbying and related follow-up activities
• Conflict resolution
• Human rights, monitoring
• Civic education
• Ethnic minority and women’s equality
• Electoral System Support: Voter education and elections monitoring including training and other election related activities
Competition requirements:
• Kyrgyz non-governmental organizations, registered in the Kyrgyz Republic can participate in the competition. Requests from individuals or governmental institutions will not be considered.
• Requests for grants should not exceed 24 000 USD
• Grant proposals should be submitted both in Russian and English languages.
• All Democracy Commission grants will be awarded on a competitive basis, depending on feasibility of projects and availability of funds.
Grant proposals (a hard copy and electronic version) should be submitted by COB February 4, 2008
