Warden Message
This warden message is being issued to update the warden message of April 6, 2007 informing U.S. citizens of planned opposition demonstrations in the upcoming weeks. Though the Embassy continues to have no specific information that the demonstrations will be violent, we want U.S. citizens to be prepared and aware of the following prudent measures to take in preparing for any period of potential instability:
Given that the demonstrations may last indefinitely, the Embassy advises all individuals to consider taking the following steps:
-Fill up vehicles with gasoline.
-Have a two-week supply of water, food and medicine.
-Candles/Matches/Flashlights/Transistor Radio with fresh batteries.
-Fully charged cell phones.
-Go Bags with travel documents and cash.
The U.S. Embassy also encourages American Citizens in Kyrgyzstan to ensure that they have valid passports and the necessary travel documentation to cross into neighboring countries. American Citizens need valid visas to enter both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
